For a change of pace, took the MTB on regular 'rents visit to try out some of that riding in the NC Triangle area. Well that was interesting. Mountain biking there consists of tracts of land with trail stuffed into it like intestines in a human. Not bad, just ... different. But ... at Lake Crabtree with all the unofficial trail mixed in with the supposedly official trail it's easy, waaaay too easy, for someone new to the trail system to end up going in circles. Which happened a LOT between 1.6 and 3.2 and again around mile 8. Even though the first system was "marked" there were enough cross trails and other distractions to result in multiple "wrong" turns... the section across the freeway was completely unmarked and completely unobvious to those unfamiliar. Definitely want to go back but with a GPS route to follow ... This wasn't the original target place to ride, actually aimed for a spot farther north but that park was closed and so no time to study this map and memorize the layout... REGARDLESS, enjoyable ride, not another soul was out there and ended up appropriately worked out.
