It's hot and I didn't feel like getting out super early. Perfect for an indoor workout. I chose the Watopia Mountain Loop. I had two fans running as it was already hot when I hopped on. The legs felt good from the start. By the time I reached the base of the climb, I was sufficiently warmed up. I aimed for 3 W/kg average. I was able to hold it for the most part. The crossing of the bridge was the exception. I was climbing out of the saddle most of the time. Sitting to hydrate and wipe sweat. The tempo was very steady. I was in the 150 BPM HR range around half way up the climb. It was in the same ball park for the remainder of the climb. The miles went quick. I had music playing and it helped. The legs felt responsive. The right knee was hinting on soreness by the time I reached the summit. I was on par for 30 day PR. I was pushing it to get below 29 minutes over the top. I was within 3 to 5 seconds under 29. From there, it was to the bonus climb. I keep forgetting to set the difficulty to a lower setting in order to get a better gear selection for this part of the ride. Nevertheless, I was able to complete it without buckling the knees much. After making it to the summit, I took a few moments rest and made my way back to the island. From there, it was mostly moderate tempo. Out of the saddle to stretch the legs and also when the road tipped upwards. I didn't put in an effort through the sprint zone this time. After making it to the finish I commenced the cooldown phase. After about 4 minutes, I finished. Concentration was good. The morale felt good. Balance and form was good. Perhaps I should raise the saddle just a bit as I was experiencing slight knee pains. Gear worked flawless. Nutrition was good. I had about half my Gatorade. No water. Ailments, mild hand soreness, and slight right upper knee tenderness. Other notes, there were about 1750 riders on this map today.
