It's a great day for a ride. I got up a bit late, had breakfast and then had to decide, sleep or ride. Well, of course I chose the latter. It's in the 80's with winds from the North West. Perfect day for a ride to SS. The legs felt good from the start. Didn't take much to get warmed up. I made it to the end of OTR in good average time. Climbing the Banducci Wall was partial traffic mitigation. I was near max over the top. I was able to recover on the plateau. From there it was no less than moderate tempo to the summit. When I arrived at the summit, I took a few moments rest. The GoPro battery was at 61%, so plenty for later. Shortly after, I headed down the mountain. There was minimal traffic, so I was able to descend rapidly. Reaching over 41 MPH. After reaching the base, I made my way to SS. The wind was moderate, so I was able to hold a slightly higher speed than usual. When I reached the front entrance, I took a few moments to rest and stretch the legs while riding. I made my way around the back entrance. The descent was a treat. I stopped at the local park for a bio break. I doused my arm coolers with water. It felt great for the next 3 minutes or so until it evaporated. I reached the tunnel in about 1:05 hours. I pulled over one more time to take a photo of the local recreational center. From there, I made my way back to Banducci and commenced the trek back through the farmlands. It was aided by a modest tailwind. I reached Boss Hogs in about 1:27-sh hours. So, I only gave up 2 minutes on the return. I pulled when I reached the base of the last climb. The GoPro battery had enough charge, so I got back on the bike and made my way up the mountain. I was doing no less than moderate tempo. Pushing it bit. I kept the tempo over the top, no heroics. I stopped to swap out the GoPro battery. When I reached Route 202, there was no traffic, so I was able to make my way down to OTR. There was one car that I had allow pass me afterwhich I made the left turn. I was relaxing most of the way down, having fun on the descent. I was doing good time, so I wanted to see if I could post a sub 2 hour ride. When I made it back to WTR, I was on good time, so I stomped on the pedals a bit to keep it up. After I reached Weston, I pushed it over the top. Shortly after, I let up and let the HR down. I made it back in about 1:59 hours. So, a sub 2 hour ride. Concentration was good. Minimal gremlins. Great day for concentration. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I'm glad I brought my extra Gatorade because I drank both bottles. Gear worked perfect. Ailments were minimal. Some hints of knee soreness that never escalated. Some hand soreness here and there. Other notes, I saw 4 cyclists today. They all seemed to be in good spirits.
