Well, I had to put in a big climbing day today. Lining it up for the Spooktacular ride on the 22nd. (I've yet to register). The weather is in the 70's, maybe low 80's. Winds from the North West. Air is on the cool side. The legs felt pretty good to start. I forgot to put my third bottle in the locker as I was making my way to Keene. It dawned on me about 1/4 mile into it. I decided to ditch the bottle in the bushes at the summit of the descent. I didn't bother checking my time at the summit, but likely good average time. I cruised the descent. There was construction going on and I had to stop on two occasions during the downhill. I made my way to the base of the climb. I think it was around 30 minutes or so. The legs felt good on the ascent. Didn't take much time to get into the rhythm of things. The landmarks went by. I had to stop at the same construction locations on the way back. It delayed my ride by a minute or two. After making it to the summit, I grabbed the ditched bottle and made my way down to the mail lockers. I put my consumed Gatorade bottle in there. Shortly after, I got back on the road. The legs were warmed up. The OTR climb went as usual. I was keeping tabs on the muscles and joints. They were cooperating. I stretched where I could. I don't recall the time to the summit of OTR. The Banducci Wall was a bit of traffic mitigation. The pavement is a bit rough, but at least no pot holes. After reaching the Alpine Forest, I took a few minutes for the climbing legs to settle in. I stopped once to swap out the GoPro battery. I made it to the road bumps in good time. I counted them off as I made my way to the summit of Arosa. I was at maximum over the top. From there, I made my way around the backside. All the while, I was planning on feeding at the summit. A bit of incentive. That's exactly what I did. I fed, hydrated, took a few moments and then headed back down the mountain. From there, it was mostly downhill, all the way back to OTR. The OTR descent was mostly a recovery zone and a bit of pleasure. I stretched out the legs and lower back while on the bike. I made it over Mariposa and then back to Weston, from which I shut it down. Concentration was good. I had a few things to think about. The morale felt good. Nutrition was good. I had hunger signs at the summit of Banducci and fed there. Ailments were minimal. I think my right knee was complaining just a bit. They never escalated. The thighs were a bit sore towards the end of the ride. To be expected. Gear worked flawless. Balance and form was good. Other notes, there were no cyclists out there today. There were some tourists at the Loop monument while ascending and descending Keene.
