I'm ramping up the miles in preparation for the Spooktacular ride on the 22nd of Oct. The legs felt pretty good to start. The weather was ideal for today's ride. Winds from the North West and temperature around 75 degrees. I made it to the end of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation. I was using my smallest gear after I reached half way. The wind was in my face. After making it to the Alpine Forest, I put it in my lowest gear for a few minutes to let the legs recover. When a few minutes passed, I was able to pick up the tempo ever so slightly. I made it to the end of Arosa nearing maximum. Around 150 BPM. From there, I made my way around the backside and then to the summit of Banducci. I took a few moments rest. I think I made it there at around 52 minutes. I let traffic by and then headed down the mountain. The lower pressure in the tires worked much better with the new (rough) pavement. I did the trek through the farmlands, trying to stay in the shoulder lane as much as possible. Suffice it to say, I was watching my 6 the whole way out. After reaching the entrance to SS, I took a few moments to recover and stretch while on the bike. I made my way around the backside and descended into town. I was going to stop for a bio break, but the park looked full, and I felt fine. I reached the Tunnel in about 1:18ish hours. I zipped through town and then headed back on the farmlands. I was doing moderate tempo most of the way. Stretching as much as I could to keep the legs and joints relaxed. I made it to Boss Hogs in around 1:42ish hours. When I reached the base of the last climb, I pulled over to swap out the GoPro, then got back on the road. The last climb went quick. Doing moderate tempo, no heroics. After reaching the summit, I pulled over to feed. I fed one Clif Bar. When I finished, I got back on the road. I stopped once to take photos of the farm animals (cows). Route 202 had some traffic mitigation, but nothing too dangerous. The descent off OTR was relaxing. I pushed over Mariposa then back to home. Shutting it down after reaching the top of Weston. Concentration was good. I had some things to think about and the music helped. Ailments, some mild hand numbness. My right outer knee / tendon was complaining when I was near the summit of Arosa. I adjusted the tempo and stretched, that seemed to keep it under control. I think my left knee was a bit sore nearing SS. Again, stretching and adjusting the tempo fixed that problem. Balance and form was good. Although I felt I was leaning towards one side. Gear worked great. The Specialized saddle and the Pearl iZumi shorts worked well. They are a good combination. Better than the Giro shorts. Other notes, I saw one cyclists making laps around SS as I was passing through.
