Great day for a bike ride. I got two items in the mail yesterday. The large Pearl Izumi Attack Bib Shorts and the SQLabs saddle. I installed the new saddle yesterday evening. I put my bike on the trainer and tested it out with the new shorts. Upon trying it, I could tell right away that it was a miss. The saddle is too firm and the sit-bones weren't supported properly. So, I decided to put the Specialized saddle back on the bike. It felt 100% better. The weather is great. A bit warm but the air is cool. I didn't bother to check my time to the summit of the descent. But likely in good average time. The legs have mostly recovered from the previous "big" ride I did. I cruised the downhill. Making it to the base in about 28 minutes. The ascent went well. I was in and out of the saddle. I think the saddle has to be moved back just a fraction. I felt a bit too forward. I was having to support my weight with the upper body more than I normally do. The landmarks went fast. I had stuff to think about. The body responded well. After making it to the summit, I was able to relax on the downhill till I reached Weston. I shut it down once I reached the top of the hill. Concentration was good. Minimal lapses. Some hints of gremlins, not too detracting. Gear worked great. I like the new Pearl Izumi shorts over the Giro's. The Specialized saddle feels more compliant than the SQLab saddle. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was spot on. I had about half my Gatorade and some water. My stomach was a bit sour in the first 20 minutes. So, I was having to dilute with water after every few sips of Gatorade. Other notes, I saw one cyclist about to crest the summit while I was on my way down.
