Today's weather was a bit on the cold side, I'd say 40's/50's, strong winds from the South West. Given the wind condition, I decided to go to WS today. I felt good out the door. Even with the headwind going onto WTR. I made it to the end of OTR in good time and was sufficiently warmed up by that time. I decided to burn most of my matches on the return leg. So, the outbound was well within my limits, doing mostly moderate tempo. I could hardly hold 15MPH in some areas. Suffice it to say, it was a slow outbound. Then the return. I knew it was going to be treat. I started moderate for about 1/4 mile, then picked up the pace to good and high tempo. I had the power down for the majority of the return. Amazing how fast this leg is when there's a generous wind on your back. I felt strong. From there, I put in a generous push all the way to Banducci. OTR was fun and games, and I was able to fly up Mariposa. After that, it was mostly smooth pedaling and enjoying the moment. Concentration was spot on. I had some things to think about. No gremlins today. Balance and form felt good. I was ticking over a high cadence and i felt square on the pedals. Ailments consisted of mild lower back soreness, some right calf soreness (that never escalated) and the usual sensation of fatigue. Gear worked flawless. Other notes, no other cyclists today.
