Today was a great day for a ride! Yesterday, I felt like crap. I couldn't get in my usual strength training as my stomache wouldn't allow it. But today proved to be the opposite. The air temperature, in the 70's, perfect. The winds from the North, perfect! So, I started out modest, my legs felt good, not really strong, but little better than average. So, I thought nothing of it, and pressed on with steady tempo. When I got to the top of Banducci, I noticed I was doing good time. At that point I decided to lift the pace just a little, to see where I'll and up when I hit SS. I was under an hour when I hit the SS tunnel. At that point, I knew I was probably going to do a sub 1:50 hour ride. I didn't have any ailments. I stretched a bit before exiting SS, just to keep my muscles loose. I upped the tempo on the return trip, on Banducci. Then kept it up to see where I would end up when I reached Boss Hog's. I hit it in about 1:16-1:17. I forget exactly, but it was well below 1:20. I alternated power from my left and right legs, to make sure they kept supple. It helped alot I think. On the last climb, I kept the tempo high, but in my limits. I had a bit of heavy legs going up the last kicker on that climb, but I kept from blowing up, backed off the tempo. On the false flat, I was hammering pretty good, doing 20+mph for the most part. Once I got onto Old Town Road, it was all down to business. Keeping the tempo high and moment good on the rolling descent. I had enough left to give it a kick on the last bit up Weston. Today was one of the best rides I've had in regard to the lack of ailments. Virtually none. Concentration was right on. I just remember reading the road and my body, with few lapses. My balance was also good. I did left/right power alternation, and that kept my legs feeling fresh for most of the ride. Gear is working great, no problems there. Other notes, the Bright Lake mini-farm had lots of animals today. I remember seeing Yelllow-Billed and other Large ducks, chickens, goats, llamas, and I think a sheep. There were lots of sheep at SS, probably a few hundred, most of which were baby sheep.
