Today was a windy day. However, not as bad as yesterday. Fortunately it was in my favor. I had a tailwind on the return ascent. My legs felt a little heavy for the first few minutes, but got better as I progressed in the ride. I cruised the downhill. Didn't even push it. On the return trip, with the help of the tailwind, my legs felt a bit more lively. I did steady tempo, getting in and out of the saddle to maintain a constant speed. My ailments were minimized to slight cramping in the right calf. As usual, slowing the tempo a bit made it go away. My back seems to be almost free of soreness. No hand numbness today. My concentration was pretty good. I just kept my mind in the zone, listening to my body and the road. Balance was also good, as it seems to be the case from the months preceeding. Bike gear is working well. No mishaps. After making the return ascent, I thought I might have been able to do a good dig on the downhill before the left turn on Weston. It became apparent, from the first few hundred yards that it wasn't going to be the case. Although I had a nice tailwind on the return ascent, I think the wind was coming from an unusual direction which wasn't favorable for a 40+ mph dig that I anticipated. Other notes, I almost ran over another squirell, within the first mile of the descent. There were still remnances of the derailed train carts. I'm gong to bring my still camera on the next ride. If I'm lucky, they'll still be there. My new shorts are fantastic, I'm so glad I bought them! The old ones have been confirmed returned and pending refund in the next 3-5 days.
