Thew weather is in the 50’s, winds from the South East. Partly cloudy. Despite the wind going the wrong direction, I decided to go to Keene today. I wore the winter kit minus a few things. I made it to the summit of the descent in good time. I cruised the downhill. Taking my time. The wind was on my back. I stopped once to check the rear wheel to make sure it was secure. (It was). Then once more to take about 10 seconds of footage of a passing train on the Loop. I made it to the base in good time. I headed back, no stopping. It became apparent that this was going to be an ascension of patience. I had to coach my concentration. I had a few things to think about. The landmarks went slower than usual given the headwind I was going into. I was using my small gears. I felt better and better as I made it from landmark to landmark. After making it passed the upper loop, the morale began to lift. I was feeling good at about one mile to go. I kept my tempo going over the top. No redlining or heroics. This was a ride to just get under the belt. After making the summit, I took a few moments to recover. Then, I made my way back home. I shut it down after making it to the top of Weston. Concentration was good for the most part. A bit impatient to reach the base and the first few miles of the climb. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. Perhaps a bit of hunger signs at the start, but I was held over by my sport drink. No feeding today. I went through most of the sport drink, no water. Gear worked flawless. Although, my right shoe / cleat is making squeaking noises while in the saddle. I tried clipping out and the noise went away. So, something strange is going on. Pending a resolution. Other notes, no cyclists today. A bunch of motor cyclists were out.
