It was raining over the weekend. When I woke up, the ground was wet. I had breakfast and took a quick nap. When I got up, the tarmac was dry. So, I scrapped the indoor ride for an out door ride. I wore the full winter kit with some newspaper in the jersey. Suffice it to say, I felt plenty warm. The temperature was in the low 40’s, winds from the North West. The fingers were hinting on the cold side, but not so much. I made it to the end of OTR in good average time. There wasn’t too much run-off water, so it was safe. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation, otherwise was the usual grind. I felt better in the morale when I reached Arosa. The climb went well. I was in the zone and the miles went quick. After making it to the speed bumps, I counted them off one by one. (Just a bit of distraction from the effort I was putting in). I let the difficulty come to me as I neared the summit. I was near max, but had matches to burn when I made it there. I was at the snowline by this time, but the streets were dry. After that, the grind through the backside. I had fun on the downhill, mostly safe with minimal water, ice or snow on the ground. I made it to the top of Banducci and took a few moments to recover. I let traffic by and then headed back down the mountain. At some point, I had to swap out the GoPro battery, otherwise it was non-stop till home. Descending off the Banducci wall was cautious. I took no chances. The wind was slightly turbulent. The return on OTR was mostly fun and games. I pushed over Mariposa and shut it down when I reached the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. Minimal lapses. I was in the zone. Patience was good. No gremlins today. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Just some hand numbness. Perhaps hinting on tenderness in the knees. Otherwise, pretty good. Nutrition was good. I had minimal hunger signs. I drank most of my sport drink, no water. Gear worked flawless. Other notes, no cyclists or runners today.
