A Ride on the NH Ice Cream Trail to Bishop's Homemade Ice Cream, Littleton, NH. Ride begins and ends at a parking area along the river walk on Mill St. along the Ammonoosuc River in Littleton, NH. Visit the Littleton Diner, and Pollyanna before the ride to get the happy thoughts rolling, or after. Ride across the covered bridge, maybe the farm market will be going on. Continue to Grove St and Highland Ave. Nice riding there. Brook Road is great. Then onto Rt 302. Some more traffic, but OK shoulders. Into Bethlehem, the Highest Elevated Town East of the Rockies and Poetry Capital of NH! Onto Rt142 Maple St. then River Rd. is scenic, rivers, mountains, Christmas trees. Back onto Rt 302, on the way into Bethlehem see the most interesting roadside attractions of the ride series so far - Great sculptures! It's Christmas in July at the SPNHF The Rocks Estate tree farm. Note: no bikes on trails! They'll be right out to tell you that, since there is no signage. West Farm road leads to The White Mountain School with it's solar powered buildings. Back into town for Ice Cream! Alas, the fates have abandoned us. Bishop's is CLOSED for the day with no notice! (not on the web anyway, having checked hours on a Wednesday before hand, and timed it to arrive after noon). Gorgeous 80+ sunny day. Too nice to be stuck inside selling ice cream! Head back to the car, WALKING the bike along Main St. (nothing with wheels and riders on the sidewalks in town). A visit to Chutter's (world's longest candy counter!) Complete the Ice Cream Trail aspect of the ride "elsewhere", in Lincoln, NH at Udderly Delicious ... Happy thoughts restored.
