I had lab in the morning. i got back before 9AM. I had breakfast, took a nap then got up and prepared to go for a ride. I was debating where to go. I decided to head up the Alpine Forest and add the Buffalo Run. The weather is fantastic. Nice, cool, in the low 60's. The wind was somewhat turbulent. I had a headwind on most of the climbing segments. The legs felt average to start. The headwind didn't help in the first half of the ride. I made it to the summit of OTR in good average time. I felt better in the mind as the ride progressed. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation. I was using my smallest gear to combat the wind. After making it to Arosa, I was able to relax a bit, and then dig in. It was mostly a game of patience. The speed bumps makes of easy landmarks to concentrate on, and that's what I did. I was near max at the summit of Arosa. I made my way around the backside, grinding up the risers. The downhill segments were a thrill. I reached 44 MPH and probably could have reached 45 had I not feathered the brakes. I had a tailwind at the time. I was more cautious on the remaining dips. From there, I headed to the top of Banducci. I pulled over to rest for a few moments. I let traffic by and headed back down the mountain. There was minimal traffic from behind. So, it was safe in that regard. I was cautious descending off the Banducci Wall. After reaching the base, I spared no time and headed to the top of Highline. There was a tailwind on that segment, so it went quick. I zipped around the neighborhood loop, got back on Highline and made my way to OTR. OTR was mostly fun and games. I was able to recover on that segment. I pushed over Mariposa and shut it down after reaching the top of Weston.
Concentration was good for the most part. I was a bit impatient in the first half. After making it to the top of the Alpine Forest, I felt better. I had minimal lapses. There were signs of gremlins on Highline as there almost always is. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Some hand numbness and a few hints of right knee soreness that didn't escalate. My right quad was hinting on soreness at times but never escalated. Nutrition was good. I drank most of my sport drink, no water. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, I saw just one e-bike cyclist. It looked more like a scooter than a bit.
