I tried getting up as early as possible. I skipped my morning nap in favor of getting out ASAP. We shoved off around 9AM. Rob and Peggy joined me. We headed to SS. Rob stayed with us till the summit of OTR. He turned back and Peggy and I went to SS. We did the regroup every so often approach for the duration of the ride. I wasn't paying much attention to landmark times. But, as I figured, the ride was 30 minutes more than I normally do. Not counting stops. The legs felt pretty good. I was able to stay concentrated. I took my time and focused on form instead of speed. I put in a good sprint on the downhill through the SS downhill. Reaching over 41 MPH. We stopped at the local park to bio. Then we headed to the mini mart to pick up some Gatorade and ice in the bottles of water. The trek through the farmlands on the way back was starting to warm up. We had a modest tailwind. The last climb was the worst. It was starting to get hot and was bearing down on us. I had to pace myself. After reaching the summit, I paced until Peggy caught up. From there, we headed to Route 202. It was mostly safe to OTR. OTR was fun and games. I pushed, modestly over Mariposa and shut it down after reaching the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. I was in the zone while riding. My patience was there, too. Balance and form was good. I focused on it as I had to wait to regroup. Ailments. Some hand soreness. My right thigh was hinting on soreness on the inner quad. Riding out of the saddle helped. It did not escalate. Nutrition was good. I thought I was getting hunger signs as I was making my way into SS. But it subsided and the Gatorade wiped it out. No feeding today. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, we saw one or two cyclists today.
