Today was warmer than the previous ride. But there was still some snow and ice on the road. I was able to do the entire ride that I planned. The ice has mostly melted and was only a concern for the first mile of the descent. I wore 2 base layers, knees, arms. The temperature was around 50. My legs felt pretty good today, but I was doing easy tempo to the bottom. The weather was unusual. There was a headwind on the way out, till about the Loop monument, then the wind reversed. As I was making my way back up the ascent, I got a flat tire about 1/4 mile into the ascent. I stopped at the Caesar Chavez entrance and fixed the flat there. After that, I proceeded with the ride as planned, doing moderate tempo. My legs felt good and I had no ailments. My concentration was pretty good as well, I was focused on the road debris and the usual body concentration. No digs today, just continuous moderate tempo. Other than the flat tire, my gear held up fine. After the summit, I cruised it to the mailboxes. When I stopped at the mailbox, I realized I had another rear flat. Fortunately it was a slow leak, so I road back the rest of the way as fast as I could to keep from riding the rims. Just now, I finished mounting the new Hutchinson tire. I didn't notice any debris in the rims, so will have to see how it holds up over night. The tire was on its last leg, as the tread was already worn to the inner layer. I have to clean the bike from all the grit, either today or tomorrow. Other notes, there was a train derailment near keene, but I didn't see any carts off the track while I was looking around in that area.
