The weather is great! In the mid 70’s. Sunny skies. Winds from the North West. I wore the standard summer kit. The legs felt pretty good to start. Today was a test of the soreness in the legs. I made it to the summit of OTR in good average time. The legs were behaving. The descent was mostly fun and games. I didn’t bother checking the time at the top of the descent to Keene, but likely good average. I cruised the downhill and put in two digs on the risers. After reaching the base, I headed back with no hesitation. I stopped once at the Chavez center to mix a powder drink. I got back on the road and made one last pit stop to bio in the bushes. From there, it was non-stop climbing. I forgot to turn the camera back on, so I lost footage from here on forward. The quads felt good. No serious signs of the inner quad pain I experienced a few rides back. I kept the tempo steady, leaving nothing to chance. After reaching the last dip, I was feeling better in the morale. I kept going with the steady tempo to the summit. I was calculating the numbers in my head. I was spot on. Reaching the summit by my estimated guess. From there, I let up to recover. Hydrated and then headed back home. I did the usual push to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was mostly good. I had some lingering thoughts about dental procedures to be done soon. The no fun stuff. I tried to stay focused on more important things. I felt better in the mind as the ride progressed. Balance and form was good. Ailments, the usual hand numbness and fatigue. Nutrition was good. I had some slight hunger signs about half way up Keene. But, the sport drink held me over. I drank about two bottles of sport drink with just a bit left over. No water. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, I saw just once cyclist headed in another direction.
