It’s a great day to get out. I managed to get out of bed from my morning nap before it got too late. I wore the standard summer kit with a thick base layer and double socks. I guessed it right. The legs felt good from the start. I made it to the summit of OTR in good time. I was using the Komoot app to practice navigating with it. The climb to the summit of Highline went quick as I had a tailwind on the way up. I zipped around the neighborhood and hopped back on Highline for the return. I stopped once at the top of OTR before the descent. I checked the Komoot app. I am getting the hang of it. The trick is to keep the course pointed in the direction you are going. That is, looking at the map with the road appearing vertically on the screen. That way you can more easily judge the left and right turns. There was a recumbent cyclist that stopped as I was checking the Komoot app. He stopped to greet me. Apparently, he is also from Golden Hills. The descent off OTR was mostly fun and games. I pushed over Mariposa, and put in a dig to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. The morale felt good. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I went through most of my sport drink. Gear worked flawlessly. The Komoot app is going to work perfectly for the Spooktacular ride. Ailments were minimal. Some hand fatigue, nothing more. The legs felt good. I think the cool weather super charged my cardio, at least that is what it felt like. Other notes, I saw three cyclists including the gentlemen on the recumbent.
