So I couldn't get out for a ride yesterday because of the rain. I doubled up on my strength training. Today turned out to be a very interesting ride. When I first checked outside in the morning, the wind was almost non-existent. Sometimes this happens, and before you know it, the wind picks up in a matter of a few hours. Well, when I got out, the wind was heading north. The temperature was cold enough to wear arms, legs, 2 base layers. On the outgoing leg, to the top of WTR, the wind was going north. I made it to the top of the descent in about 7 minutes. Well above average when the wind is coming from the south. So, as I proceeded down the mountain, I noticed that the wind was beginning to change directions. It began doing a reversal in the middle of the descent. By the time I reached the bottom, the wind had made a complete reversal, and I ended up having a tailwind on the way up. I did good tempo for most of the ascent, not paying much attention to my time. When I reached the second riser, I looked at my clock, and I noticed that I was doing real good time. My concentration was spot on. Balance could have been a bit better, but still pretty good. No digs today, just nice and steady, good tempo, getting out of the saddle when I felt myself loosing momentum. The gear is working perfect, shifting is spot on. I went in to the ride thinking that I would need to remove either my arm or leg warmers when I reached the bottom of Keene. Turns out that the temperature was just barely enough to keep them on without overheating. I unzipped my jersey half way for most of the climb, and I was sitting pretty, very comfortable. Ailments were pretty much none. Over the summit, my lower back was a bit sore, but only for a minute or two. I ended up stretching my back for a few moments before the last leg of the ride.
