The weather is fantastic now. I was reluctant to get out, but managed to convince myself to do so. The temperature is around 60, plus or minus. I wore arms, knees, headcap, thick base layer and some newspaper in the jersey. I was perfectly warm for the duration of the ride. The wind was from the South East, so opposite of what I prefer. The legs felt good to start. I made it to the summit of OTR in good time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation, otherwise went well. I was near max going over the top. The Alpine Arosa climb went quick. I was feeling good. I counted off the landmarks as they went by. I was at max at the top of Arosa. From there, I made my way around the backside. I reached 45 MPH on the downhill! So much fun with the tailwind on the downhill, and that it is very safe. I made my way to the summit of Banducci. I took a few moments to catch my breath, let traffic by, hydrated and then headed back down the mountain. There was a headwind at this point. There was minimal traffic from behind, so it felt safe. I let traffic by before descending off the Banducci Wall. That turned out to be a wise decision. There was a crosswind on the way down. Not too bad, but the lack of traffic from behind made it less worrisome. From there, I made my way down OTR. I stopped once to say hi to the local horses. I took a video and some photos. After that, I headed back home. I pushed over Mariposa and to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. Minimal lapses. My patience was mostly in check and I was able to stay in the zone, comfortably. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I had no hunger signs. I drank about 2/3rds of my sport drink, no water. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, there was one other cyclist and some runner / walkers today.
