It's raining out, so I had no choice but to ride indoors. Getting the gear set up was a snap. I was a bit later than I would have liked, but I got it done, nonetheless. The legs felt pretty good to start. I had two power meters going. The trainer and the stages power meter. Interesting that the stages power meter was reading more accurately than normal. I'm not sure why, perhaps it has to do with my new Garmin Edge 1040 GPS. In any regard, I got on with business. The first 10 to 12 minutes was warming up. I was good to go when I reached the base of the climb. I had my Halo Replay going, so I was being paced most of the way up. We were neck and neck, but I pulled away as the climb progressed. I tried not to get fixated on the numbers, but more on the landmarks. Time went faster that way. I was doing 3 W/kg + or - most of the way to the summit. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts. Sitting to recover, hydrate and wipe off sweat. I was on good time, so I went after my PR. I got it by about 10 seconds. I think I got around 12 place on the climb. Will have to check the footage. The bonus climb was good tempo. The Halo Replay was going. I beat it to the summit. I don't recall my placing, but it was somewhere in the top half. from there, it was the descent back to town. I hopped off the trainer once or twice to align the front wheel. It keeps on sliding on the floor, even with the wheel block planted on the ground. Will have to find a better method. I joined a "C" group for a few minutes. I was pushing over 3 W/kg just to keep up. Eventually, they turned another direction before I finished my ride. I pushed modestly through the sprint zone. I was on good time for the route. I am pretty sure I posted a PR. After crossing the finish, I took shut it down and commenced the cooldown phase. I let the HR down gently and hopped off when it reached 112 BPM.
Concentration was good. Perhaps a bit impatient on the climbs, but not so much. Balance and form was good. The position on the bike feels good. Nutrition was good. I fed half a banana, grapes, apple sauce, a Clif Bar and a bit of Gatorade before the ride started. It helped. Gear worked flawlessly. The power meter was more accurate. Perhaps it isn't defective after all. Pending confirmation. Ailments were minimal. Interesting that my hands did not become numb. I wasn't wearing gloves. Almost makes me want to ride Keene without gloves just to see what happens. Other notes, there were around 7000 riders on this map when I hopped on.
