The weather has let up. It’s sunny, on the cold side, winds from the North West. I was a bit reluctant to get up in the morning. I managed to get up, not so late. I wore arms, legs, head cap, thick base layer, jacket full gloves, helmet cover and face mask. I was sufficiently warm for the duration of the ride. The legs felt pretty good to start. I had my GPS announcing turn by turn directions (for practice) and metrics every 2 minutes. It proved to be helpful because I didn’t have to look down at the GPS every minute. I didn’t bother checking the time to the summit. But, likely in good average time. I cruised the downhill and put in two solid digs on the risers. After reaching the base, I headed back without hesitation. I stopped at the Caesar Chavez center to remove my face mask. From there, it was non-stop climbing. The GPS announcements help me stay focused. I was able to keep track of the vital metrics like HR, Power and Speed. I had things to think about, so the time went quick. The landmarks helped, too. I was doing numbers in my head for added security. I kept the tempo steady. More in some places than others. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts. After making it to the summit, I took a few moments to recover while on the bike. Shortly after, I made my way back home. I did the usual dig to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I had stuff to think about. The GPS helped with its announcements. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. The GI was stables. I had some minor hand numbness while doing out of the saddle grinds. Nutrition was good. I fed half a banana, some apple sauce and a few grapes before the ride. That proved to be sufficient. Gear worked flawlessly. The GPS is proving its worth. Other notes, no cyclists today (to my surprise).
