Today's weather was perfect for riding. In the low 70's and a cool breeze. It reminded me of riding along the beach. Going out the door my legs felt average. It didn't take long before they were warmed up and ready for the remainder of the ride. Before the ride started my back was sore since the morning. It wasn't intolerable, but I couldn't touch my feet as I normally can. I was a bit concerned, and approached the ride with a little caution. It turned out that my back was perfectly well over the entire ride. I started out with doing moderate tempo up OTR and did the same going up Banducci. No digs in today's ride. I made it to the summit of Banducci in good time. I soft-pedaled my way down to the base of the mountain and increased the tempo a bit over the flat section. I kept a nice steady pace going up SS and reached the tunnel in under an hour. The wind was from the North West, so I never got a perfect tailwind. I reached Boss Hogs in under 1:20 hrs. I was able to hold my tempo up CVR and maintained a moderate tempo over the top. The remainder of the ride was a joy ride. I think I exceeded 36mph going down route 202 in order to make the left turn safely. That part is always a thrill. My concentration was really good today. I kept myself in the zone for the most part. Ailments were minimal, my right calf had a few hints of cramping. But it was more like a pinching feeling. I felt it the most when I arrived at SS. Balance was ok, I wish it could have been better. Gear is working well. I heard what sounded like a spoke loosening due to strain. It only happened once that I was aware of. I put my gopro in movie mode for the entire ride in order to see how much video I can fit on one 32gb card. It appears that I was able to fit 1:51 hrs in 11.7 GB. Other notes, there was a huge turkey vulture that I saw on the return leg.
