Today was a balmy 80 degrees. When I got up for breakfast, it was around 70ish. After my quick nap, the temperature rose 10 degrees. Nevertheless, it was a nice day for a ride. I thought it was going to be warmer today, and I was a bit concerned about the ascent. Turns out that it was more comfortable than I had anticipated. Out the door, my legs felt a bit heavy. By the time I reached the descent, they were sufficiently warmed up. I cruised the downhill, pushing a little here and there to let the traffic through and made it to the base in under 28 minutes. The ascent started as it usually does. Since I was descending, my legs needed to get warmed up again. So, the first mile or so was a bit labored. After that, I felt good and was able to increase the tempo. I did no less than average tempo for the remainder of the ascent. The only ailments I had was my right hand numbness. Otherwise, everything else was spot on. Concentration was good, always had my focus on turning the pedals over as efficient as possible and gauging my efforts. No digs today. Balance was so so, I think it got better as the ride progressed. Gear, working perfect, but that little metal clicking noise that I heard the past few rides seems to be from the rear wheel. I'm not sure if it's the cassette or the spokes on the wheel. I need to check if the rear wheel is still true. One thing I noticed was that it does this when I downshift and put a lot wattage into the pedals. I think I can rule out the chain. I inspected it yesterday and I didn't see any links that were loose.
