I installed new brake pads on my bike yesterday, so I had to bed them in today. That's what I did for about 20 minutes. The weather is great. In the 60's, winds from the North West. After bedding the brakes, I headed to the Alpine Forest by way of OTR. I didn't bother keeping track of time, as it was skewed from the time required to bed-in the brakes. I was keeping track of the condition of the brakes. I got off a few times to see if the wheels spun freely. The rear wheel is much better than the front wheel. The front stops sooner than it should. The rear seems to have gone back to normal without the brakes rubbing. Nevertheless, I got on with business. The Banducci Wall had traffic mitigation, so I was constantly looking around. I was able to relax a bit after reaching the Alpine Forest climb. The time went quick, as did the landmarks. I was within my limits going over the top. I made my way around the backside. I was doing my best to refrain from mashing the brakes. I was trying to get them bedded in as much as possible. My experience was that the brakes didn't squeak as I was feathering them on the downhill. After reaching the summit of Banducci, I pulled over to recover and let traffic by. Then I headed back down the mountain. I had a tailwind, so that segment went quick. I was feathering the brakes on the way down the Banducci Wall. From there, I headed up Highline and around the Buffalo neighborhood. I hopped back on Highline and made my way back to OTR. Descending off OTR was mostly fun and games. I pushed over Mariposa and put in a dig to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. The morale was good going into the ride. I was focused on getting the bike back in tune with the brakes. It kept me focused. Balance and form was good. I wore single socks today, so the feel was slightly different in the feet, but on the good side. Ailments were minimal. Some hand soreness. Otherwise, the body felt good. Nutrition was good. I fed some grapes, a Clif Bar and a Banana before the start of the ride. That held me over. Gear worked flawlessly. I think the brakes are going to be fine. I am going to keep the rotors as they are. They have a bit of life left in them. Other notes, no cyclists today. The guard at the top of Lemans was not present.
