It’s another great spring day! Winds from the North West, in the 60’s and sunny skies. Perfect for going to Keene. I hit that snooze button a few times before getting up. Glad I got up when I did. I wore the standard summer kit with a thick base layer. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it in good time to the summit of OTR. I cruised the downhill and made my way to the top of WTR. I think I made it back to the mail boxes in about 38 minutes, plus or minus. I was going into a headwind on my way to the summit of WTR. I didn’t bother to check the time when I made it there. I cruised the downhill. There was some traffic mitigation, so I let the cars through by using the turnouts. I put in two digs on the risers. After making it to the base, I headed back. I stopped at the Chavez Center to feed and mix a sport drink. Shortly after, I got back on the road. I decided to stop once more to take a quick bio. After that, it was non-stop climbing. The legs were good. I had a nice tailwind and the temperature was on the cool side. The morale was good. I was listening to the GPS announcements. I think it's off again by about 15 to 20 watts. The numbers seemed kind of low. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts. This allowed my hands to recover and use different muscle groups. I kept the tempo going to the summit where I was near max. After cresting the summit, I took a few moments to recover and then headed back home. Interesting that when I was about half a mile from Weston, the wind did a 180. Nevertheless, I did the grind to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I had a few things to think about and the morale was good going into the ride. Balance and form was good. The cleat position feels good. Ailments were minimal. Just the usual hand soreness. Nutrition was good. I fed half a banana and some grapes. During the ride, I fed a Clif Bar and about one and a half sport drink bottles and water. Gear worked flawlessly. The front brake has gone back to normal. It seems to be spinning freely now and lever articulation feels good. Other notes, no cyclists today.
