It's going to get hot during the weekend, but today was on the cool side. In the 60's, winds from the North West. I wore the standard summer kit. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the summit of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall had traffic mitigation, so I was looking over my shoulder every minute. I felt better when I made it to the Arosa climb. I settled into a good tempo to till the speed bumps. From there, I let the difficulty catch up. I was near max going over the top. I made my way around the backside and had fun on the descent to Banducci. After reaching the summit of Banducci, I stopped to recover for a few moments. I let traffic by and then headed back down the mountain. There was minimal traffic, so it was safe and I was able to relax. More of the same descending off the Banducci Wall, although I was feathering the brakes just for good measure. From there, I headed up Highline and around the Buffalo neighborhood. I hopped on Highline once more for the return and made my way back to OTR. The descent off OTR was fun and games. It was good for the morale. I pushed over Mariposa and made my way back to Weston for the dig to the top where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. Perhaps a bit impatient in the start. I was in the zone most of the time and no gremlins to speak of. Balance and form was good. I really like the new shoes and the cleat position feels good. Ailments were minimal. Some hand numbness while digging out of the saddle. Nutrition was good. I fed a banana and grapes before the ride. It held me over sufficiently. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, no cyclists today. There was road construction on Highline. They were controlling traffic. I was delayed by no more than a minute.
