I was determined to ride to SS. It's been too long since I've been able to get out there. Due to the wind conditions not being in my favor, I've been passing it up. The weather is cold, but not too much biting. In the upper 40's. Winds from the South East. The legs felt reasonably good, after getting warmed up. I noticed the wind was going the opposite direction. After a few miles. I decided to go to SS, regardless. I made my way through OTR and Banducci. I was wearing my entire winter kit, so I was starting to heat up on the climbs. I unzipped my jacket and jersey on the way up to the summit. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments rest and let the traffic by. I reached the summit in about 34 minutes. Then I headed downhill. I practiced the tuck, going into the tailwind. I think I breached 43MPH on the way down. The trek to SS was a treat. I must have averaged above 25MPH with the aid of the wind. I looked at the GPS eclipsing 30MPH on more than a few occasions. Fun Stuff! I made it to the SS tunnel in about 53-ish minutes. I knew that advantage was going to evaporate on the way back, as I will be going into the wind for the remainder of the ride. Such was the case. As soon as I started to make my way through SS, I was being hindered by the wind. When I got to the farmlands, I put it into cruise control. Very steady tempo, all the way to the last climb. From there, I was out of the saddle for the greater extent of the ascent. The GoPro gave up after about 1:30 hrs. 10 - 12 minutes more than the previous ride. I replaced the battery after reaching the summit. From there it was non-stop back to the door-step. Concentration was good today. Hardly a gremlin to mention. Probably the greater of things on this ride. Balance and form was good. Ailments, some left hip soreness. Not too detracting. Gear worked flawless. Stupid me forgot to start the Charity app. I selected the charity, but forgot to start it. Suffice it to say, I was cursing when I realized. Other notes, no other cyclists today.
