When I got up, the weather was in the 20's. I did my routine. When it got near noon, the weather had warmed up. But still in the 30's. I decided to ride indoors. The setup was quick. The map of the day was New York. I didn't want to ride that course, so I opted for Watopia with the mountain route. It took a while to get warmed up. I had the fan turned on after about 5 minutes into the ride. I think my core temperature took twice the time to reach it's balancing point. I was a bit more aggressive on the climb today. I was out of the saddle for extended periods of time. There was a chase behind me, so that gave me extra incentive. I started to sweat after about 17 or so minutes into the climb. Towards the end, I noticed I was on a monthly PR pace. I pushed it over the summit, doing 4.5+ W/kg. It was enough to grab the King of the Mountain prize. I then proceeded to the radio tower summit. On the way up, I was wondering how long I was going to wear the KOM jersey. After reaching the summit, I cruised my way back down. Somewhere on the way down, I lost the jersey to another rider. I continued my way through the course. About 5 or 10 minutes of losing the jersey, I got it back. Apparently, the winner had logged off. My goal was to finish the lap and then cool down from there. There was an intermediate sprint zone, so I convinced myself to give it a go. It was a 300 meter segment. I punched it when I reached the start line. putting in over 8 W/KG. I held it for what felt like a minute. More like 20 or 30 seconds. I ended up getting 3rd, for that moment. From there, it was mostly moderate tempo. There was another rider ahead of me. I had just enough real-estate to bridge. I was having to mash the pedals. I almost gave up, but kept going as I was reeling him in. I past him about a few hundred meters before the finish. From there it was cool-down. Concentration was spot on. Few lapses. Mostly, in the zone. Balance and form felt good. Ailments next to none. No lower quad soreness this time. Gear is working great. No issues. Other notes, I'm dialing in the Accelerade powder mix. I'm now taking less than one scoop per bottle. Will likely try 3/4 scoop, the next time. There were between 100 and 200 riders on this map, today. I got the new GPS/GoPro mount today. Looks to be made of better material. Dad is installing it now, as it requires machining to fit.
