It's getting warmer. Glad I got out when I did. It was in the mid to upper 70's when I got out. The air was on the cool side. Winds were from the North West. I wore the standard summer kit. The legs felt average to start. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. I took my time on the descent. I put in two digs on the risers. There was some traffic mitigation from behind. I let one or two vehicles to pass. After reaching the base, I headed back without delay. I let the body and mind warm up. It took till the end of the gauntlet to get into the zone. I kept the tempo steady while doing in and out of the saddle efforts. No heroics. The morale felt better as the ride progressed. I stretched while on dips. I was listening to the music and the GPS announcements. I had other stuff to think about, along the way. After cresting the summit, I took a few moments to stretch on the bike. I decided to add OTR as was planned from the beginning. I took it easy. No rushing. The legs were feeling a bit heavy, so I adjusted the tempo accordingly. After reaching the summit, I headed back. The downhill was enjoyable. The cool air brought my temperature down. I pushed over Mariposa and then to the top of West where I shut it down.
Concentration was mostly good. I was impatient at times, so I was having to coach myself to stay focused. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal, half a banana, and some grapes before the ride. I drank all of my sport drink and some water. Ailments were minimal. The usual hand soreness and the sense of fatigue as the ride progressed. Gear worked flawlessly. There's still mystery clicks going on. Other notes, I saw a cyclist and a bunch of friendly motor-cyclists.
