The weather has warmed up, in the 80's now. I got out a bit later than anticipated, around 9:30-ish AM. Winds were from the North West. I wore the standard summer kit. I brought an extra bottle of water. The legs felt ok to start. They got better with time. I made it to the top of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation, so I was looking all around. I recovered on the flats and then made my way to the summit. When I reached the summit, I pulled over and let traffic by. After a few moments, I headed down the mountain. I played it safe and stayed in the saddle while descending. The trip to SS was mostly steady pacing. As I was approaching the SS entrance, I noticed one of my tires was going soft. Turns out that I had a front flat. Fortunately, there was a small building that gave me shelter while fixing the flat. It took around 10 minutes and went without a hitch. It turned out to be a prickly thorn that punctured the tire. After fixing the flat, I made my way around the backside of SS. I forgot to turn on the GoPro camera, so I lost some footage till the next stop. I put in a good sprint on the downhill. I stopped at the local park to take a quick bio break. I got back on the bike and headed into town. I passed the tunnel in about 1:08 hours. I stopped at the local mini mart to mix a powder drink. Then I got back on the road. The return was mostly steady tempo. I had to dodge a bunch of pot holes while doing traffic mitigation. No fun, but I made my way through that area. I passed Boss Hogs in about 1:33 hours or so. I gave up about 5 minutes on the return, not too bad. The last climb felt good. The wind was mild and not so turbulent. After cresting the summit, pulled over to feed. That took a few moments. After feeding, I headed to Route 202. Route 202 had no traffic from behind, so it was safe. Descending off OTR was relaxing. I pushed over Mariposa. I replaced the GoPro battery when I made it to the top. After the dig to the top of Weston, I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I was mostly focused with a few things to think about. I had minimal lapses and no gremlins worth mentioning. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Just the usual hand and arm soreness. Gear worked flawlessly. Still some mystery clicks. I lubed the front inner saddle yesterday. If I'd have to say, perhaps its a bit better but needs more confirmation. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal with some grapes for breakfast. I drank about 1 and a half bottles of sport drink and some water with a Clif Bar. Other notes, I saw two e-cyclists as I was making my way up OTR.
