The weather has warmed up a bit. It's in the low 60's, winds from the South East, but turned turbulent. I wasn’t exactly sure what to wear. I wore arms, knees, head cap, two base layers, face mask and one sheet of newspaper in the jersey. This held me over plenty. The legs felt good to start. I made it to the summit of the descent in good time. I stopped to remove my head cap and face mask. I cruised the descent. I had a tailwind half way down. I put in two digs on the risers. Around the lower loop, the wind turned opposite. I made it to the base in good time. After reaching the base, I headed back without hesitation. While I was making my way back, I removed the newspaper in my jersey and stashed it in my rear pocket. It started to get a bit warm, so I had to mitigate and I didn't feel like stopping. The landmarks went quick. The morale got better as the ride progressed. I kept the tempo going. I was listening to the music and announcements. I guessed how many songs it would take to reach the summit. That kept me distracted. I pushed over the summit, reaching maximum. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments to recover. At this point, I was going into a headwind. I made my way back to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I had minimal lapses. My patience was so-so. I wanted to get on with the climb, so I was coaching my patience to the base of Keene. Balance and form felt good. Ailments were minimal. The usual hand soreness was all. The joints and muscles felt good. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal, a banana and some grapes for breakfast. I drank most of my sport drink, no water. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, I saw one cyclist on his way out as I finished the Keene climb. Not sure who it was, but may have been Cory. There were no spectators at the Loop Monument today.
