I had a remote job interview exam yesterday. I ended up staying till 12 at night. I set the alarm to about 10, but managed to get up around 11. I had breakfast, got ready and went out. The weather is nice. In the low 50's. Sunny skies. Winds from the South East. I wore arms, knees, thick base layer, head cap, face mask and my jacket. I was delayed for about 15 minutes because I had to charge my GPS. The legs felt good from the start. I skipped my evening strength training session yesterday, perhaps my legs were less fatigued. I made it to the summit of OTR in good time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation. I was using my easy gears doing in and out of the saddle efforts. More of the same to the summit. I had a tailwind at this point. I made it to the top in good average time. After reaching the summit, I made my way down to the valley. I cut across the farmlands after reaching the base. I had a moderate head wind. So, I took it easy and played the patience game. I made it to Boss Hogs in around 1:02 hours. So, I gave up a couple minutes, but not too bad for riding in a headwind. The last climb went well. I kept my tempo steady. No heroics. After reaching the summit, I stopped to feed. I got back on the road and made my way to Route 202. Route 202 had traffic mitigation, so I let traffic by the best I could. Descending off OTR was enjoyable. I pushed over Mariposa and the dig to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I was in the zone most of the time. Minimal lapses. I had stuff to think about. My patience was in check. No gremlins worth mentioning. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Just the usual hand soreness. Perhaps a bit of inner hip soreness now and again that didn't escalate. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal and half a banana with a few grapes for breakfast. I fed a Clif Bar with water and drank most of my sport drink. Gear worked flawlessly. I had to charge the battery on the GPS before departing. Other notes, there were some walkers and runners, but no cyclists.
