The weather has let up. It’s now sunny with snow on the ground, but the streets were mostly dry. I decided to head up the Alpine Forest. The plan was to go as far as the road conditions would permit. I wore the standard winter kit with short finger gloves, otherwise, completely covered. It was in the upper 40's, winds from the South East. The legs felt pretty good to start. Before the ride, I adjusted the tilt of the saddle. Slightly, nose up. As soon as I hopped on, it became apparent that I needed to move the saddle forward a bit. So, I stopped once on Mariposa to make the adjustment. It felt better, but then I needed to lower the saddle. So, I stopped at the top of OTR to make the adjustment. It felt even better. I will make more adjustments, but this is a step in the right directions. I made it to the top of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall went as planned. There was some traffic mitigation. I was near max going over the top. The Arosa climb felt better as there was less traffic. There were smoke plumes in the distance. I think it was someone burning their leaves. It left smoke in the air. I had to put my face mask on as it was getting into my lungs. After making it to the top, I lowered my face mask so that I could breath through my mouth. I was near max going over the top. I made my way around the backside being extra cautious. Turns out that there wasn't ice on the road, so it was safe. I made my way to the Banducci summit. There were people playing in the snow and they parked their cars near the road. I was careful going through that area. After making it to the summit, pulled over to recover. I let traffic by and then made my way back down the mountain. It was mostly safe with minimal traffic from behind. There was some traffic from behind as I was descending off the Banducci Wall. I played it safe by feathering the brakes and letting traffic by. From there, I headed to OTR for the return. It was mostly enjoyable. I had a headwind at this point in the ride. I pushed over Mariposa and then the dig to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I had few lapses and I had stuff to think about. There were no gremlins worth mentioning. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. The hands felt ok today. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal and part of a banana for breakfast. I didn't nap today. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, there were no cyclists today.
