It is no longer raining, but the fog rolled in. I decided to go to Keene. It's about 60 degrees, winds were slightly turbulent. I wore the standard winter kit. I was perfectly warm for the duration of the ride. The legs were a bit heavy to start. They felt better after the first 6 or 7 minutes. As I was making my way to the top of WTR, I noticed the fog was getting thicker. So, I was on situation alert. I made it to the top of the descent in good average time. I cruised the downhill playing it cautious. I put in two digs on the risers. As I made my way down to the lower elevations, the fog began to thicken. Drops of water were forming on my jacket. I decided to turn around about a mile from the base. It became unsafe. So, that's what I did. The return went as planned. The fog dissipated when I reached the upper loop. By the second dip, it was all gone. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments to recover and then headed back home. I shut it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. I was slightly reluctant to get out, but managed to summon the courage. The morale was good once I got on the bike. Balance and form was good. I like the new bike position, being more forward. More confirmation required. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal, half a banana, and some grapes for breakfast. I had another half a banana and grapes before departing. I drank most of my sport drink, no water. Ailments were minimal. Some hand numbness here and there. Gear worked flawlessly. Very nice that I don't have to carry around a hand pump on the frame anymore as I bought an electric pump that I can stash in the saddle bag. Other notes, no cyclists today.
