It's my birthday and it is snowing! So, perfect day to ride on Zwift. I was counting on doing the Mountain Route. So, that's what I did. I got up a bit later than I anticipated, nonetheless, I hopped on as soon as I could. The legs felt pretty good to start. It took about 10 minutes to reach the base of the climb. I had my Halo replays running. They were ahead of me for a while. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts for the duration of the ascent. I was doing 3 W/kg + or - 0.5 W/kg. The legs felt pretty good. The morale felt better as I was passing the landmarks. After about 2 thirds the way up, I passed my Halo Replay. So, it became apparent that I was going to post a 90 day PR. I had one power up saved and I used it on one of the dips. I pushed over the top. I think I finished in the middle of the pack. Then I did the bonus climb. I was more conservative on this one. Mostly doing 3 W/kg or under. I think I placed better on this climb. Then I made my way down the mountain and back to town. I put in a good sprint through the sprint zone. I placed top 12 I think, out of a few hundred. I have to check the footage. I was ahead of my Halo Replay when I reached the finish, so I must have posted a PR on that too. Good stuff for a ride on my birthday. I cooled down for about 5 minutes and then hopped off.
Concentration was good. I was in the zone most of the time and the morale was good going into the ride. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Not so much hand soreness this time. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal, half a banana, and some grapes for breakfast. Then another banana and grapes before hopping on. Gear worked flawlessly. Although there was a momentary lapse of connectivity when I was on the climb. Other notes, there were over 7000 riders when I hopped on!
