It is a beautiful Spring day. Perfect weather for going to Keene n Back. It's in the low 60's, winds from the North West. I wore arms, knees, thick base layer, head cap and newspaper in the jersey. Turned out to be the right combination. The legs felt ok to start. By the time I reached the top of the descent, I was good to go. I made it there in good average time. I cruised the downhill. I had to let traffic by a couple of times. I put in a good dig on the second riser. I made it to the base in good average time. After reaching the base, I adjusted my knee warmers and then headed back up the mountain. I stopped at the Chavez Center to remove my head cap and then hopped back on the road. I was doing moderate tempo most of the time while doing in and out of the saddle efforts. The landmarks went quick and I was aided by a nice tailwind. I stopped at the top of the Loop Monument to remove the newspaper in my jersey and then finished the remainder of the climb. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments to recover and headed back home. As I was nearing Weston, I got stung by a bee in the left index finger. I had to pull over to remove the stinger. It was safe, but painful too. Shortly after, I made my way back home after pushing to the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. I had lots to think about and the morale was mostly good. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Some hand soreness here and there. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. I drank most of my sport drink, no water. Gear worked flawlessly. I had to replace the battery on the power meter before departing. Other notes, I saw one cyclist on his way to Keene as I was on my way back after reaching the summit.
