The weather has cooled off. It was raining yesterday. It is now partly cloudy and in the low 50’s. Winds from the North West. I wore the standard winter kit, less shoe covers. I brought my full finger gloves for good measure. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the top of the descent in good average time. I cruised the downhill. I put in two digs on the risers. After reaching the base, I cleaned my glasses, adjusted my leg warmers, and then headed back up the mountain. I stopped once at the Chavez Center to check my smartphone as it got two calls. Turned out to be Roger. No emergencies, so I continued the ride. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts while counting off the landmarks. It went quick since I had stuff to think about. After the second dip, I was doing better in the morale. I guessed the number of songs to the summit to stay focused. I was very close in my approximation. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments to recover. I zipped up my jersey and jacket and headed back home. I shut it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. I had stuff to think about, I was in the zone. No gremlins. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. I drank most of my sport drink, no water. Ailments were minimal. Just the usual hand soreness. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, no cyclists. There were two trains on the track as I was doing my thing.
