The weather is on the cold side, but it was just warm enough to leave the jacket behind. It was in the upper 50's, winds from the North West. Ideal for a SS ride. I wore arms, knees, head cap, face mask, thick base layer, and newspaper in the jersey. That held me over. The legs felt pretty good to start. It didn't take too much time for the legs to feel responsive. I made it to the top of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation. I was near max going over the top. I recovered on the flat segment and then completed the climb. After reaching the summit, I pulled over to recover for a few moments. Then I headed down the mountain. I let traffic by as I was descending. Other than that, it was safe. The trek to SS was mostly patience as I was going into a headwind at that time. I made my way around the backside and then down into town. I put in a good sprint on the downhill. I stopped at the local park to take a quick bio. I made it past the tunnel in about 1:07-ish hours. I made my way to the mini-mart to mix a sport drink and then headed back home. The trek back was aided by a tailwind, so it was quicker then last time. I made it to Boss Hogs in about 1:31 hours. So, I gave up less than 5 minutes on the return. The last climb went quick. I was doing no less than moderate tempo. After reaching the summit, I pulled over to recover and fed Clif Bar. From there, I made my way to Route 202. Route 202 had traffic mitigation, so I let them by as best I could. The descent off OTR was fun. I stopped at the local horse farm to adjust my saddle bag strap. The three horses were there, so I took a few moments to give one of them a pet. I got it on camera. After that, I made my way back. I pushed over Mariposa. My camera ran out of batteries at the top, so I swapped the battery. I got back on the road and did the grind to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. My patience was in check. I was in the zone most of the time. I had stuff to think about so that made things go quicker. Balance and form felt good. Nutrition was good. I had oatmeal, half a banana and some grapes for breakfast. I skipped my morning nap. Ailments were minimal. My right inner foot was slightly sore as I had a mole removed from it the other day. That and some minor hand soreness. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, I saw two cyclists on their way down OTR as I was ascending.
