I had lab in the morning. After getting back, I got ready for my bike ride. They predicted rain, but it was only partly cloudy. By the time I got out the door, I could see rain on the way. So, I decided to ride indoors. I road the MyWhoosh, Trongsa Bhutan map. I calculated that it would take under an hour. After getting ready, I hopped on. I wasn't sure what to expect, but there was about 1200 feet of climbing. Enough to get a good workout. I started out modest, allowing the legs to warm up. The first few miles were undulating. Then I made it to the major climbing segment. I think it was about 3 miles or so in distance. I was doing between 2.5 and 3.2 W/kg most of the way. I was riding out of the saddle on the steeper segments and in the saddle to recover, hydrate, and wipe sweat. I think I was getting slightly sore in the right knee, so I backed off a bit. It went away and I was able to put the power back down. After cresting the summit, most of the way back to the finish was downhill or rolling terrain. Once I completed the lap, I took a few moments to cool down. I let my HR down to 112 and then hopped off the trainer.
Concentration was good. The scenery was captivating and it helped the miles go quicker. I wanted to do the California map, but this one was just as good. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Some hints of knee soreness here and there. And a bit of hand soreness. I rode without gloves, I don' think it made a difference. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal before going to lab. When I got back I had a banana and some grapes before hopping on the trainer. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, there were over 220 riders on this map. I was constantly seeing other riders, much more than a few months back. I give MyWhoosh a thumbs up!
