After work dirt ride (because SOME of us still do that thing "work"), after a short and not terribly wet thunderstorm. A coupla puddles here and there but otherwise trails were unaffected by the little storm. Crownsgate Connector needs a little trimming as the low-traffic tread has stuff growing in it in spots. Much discussion with companion about whether some of these trails are still considered "green" or easy enough for beginners to ride. Many of the older sections are now eroded (for example, 2.5 to 4.4 and again 7.1 to 7.8), with large step-ups (or drops) for roots as well as unavoidable rock gardens. Or maybe we're just old. This may also be why the Ten Mile Creek system is getting so much more traffic these days ... ? Enjoyed the big berms and flow of the orange trail (8.2 to 8.8) and did not suffer on the climb through 9.7 (usually tired and struggling by then). Fitness continues to improve. Felt no ill effects of any kind from the previous day's 40 miles (roadie). w/Mark
