I got out a bit later than usual because I had a dermatological procedure done yesterday. I had to let the wound heal for 24 hours. The discomfort was minimal. The weather is very nice now. In the 60's. Winds from the North West. I wore arms, knees, thick base layer, and a sheet of newspaper in the jersey. The legs felt good to start. I made it to the top of OTR in good average time. The descent was mostly soft pedaling. I put in two digs on the risers. After making it to the base, I removed the newspaper in the jersey and headed back up the mountain. I was doing moderate tempo most of the way, no heroics. The landmarks went by quick. I had stuff to think about. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts to keep the tempo going. After the second dip, I felt better in the morale. I was guessing the time remaining to the summit. It helped keep my mind occupied. I kept my momentum going over the top. It felt like I had few matches left. That's how I wanted it. After cresting the summit, I took a few moments to recover and then headed back home. I shut it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. I had stuff to think about. I was in the zone most of the time. The weather was very nice, always good for the morale. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Just the usual hand soreness. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal, half a banana and some grapes for breakfast. I had the other half of the banana and some more grapes before departing. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, I saw one familiar cyclist as I was about to head down the mountain to Keene. The motor cyclists were friendly. Traffic was minimal, I let them by when I could.
