I couldn't go riding yesterday because I had to go to Bakersfield with the folks. The weather is great now. In the mid / upper 60's. Winds from the North West, slightly turbulent. I wore arms, knees, and a thick base layer. I made it to the summit of WTR in good average time. I cruised the downhill, mostly soft pedaling. I put in two digs on the risers. After reaching the base, I adjusted my knee warmers and then headed back up the mountain. The miles went quick. I had stuff to think about. The morale got better after each passing landmark. The music helped too. I guessed the number of songs to the summit. I was right on the money. I increased my tempo while closing in on the summit. I was near max going over the top. After cresting the summit, I had to pull over because a bug got into the inside of my sunglasses. Then I made my way back home. I shut it down at the top of the Weston dig.
Concentration was good. I had stuff to think about. I was in the zone most of the time. Balance and form felt good. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal, half a banana and some grapes before departing. Ailments were minimal. I had sore hands from time to time while grinding out of the saddle. My left ankle was complaining as I was putting the power down on the pedals at the summit. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, there were visitors at the Loop Monument both out and back.
