Put the 27.5 wheels and tires on the WTF with a plan to ride a bunch of the towpath and the 5 miles or so of dirt road that parallels it between Whites Ferry and Edwards Ferry. And then climb out of the river valley to the north and loop back south to Poolesville and then to Riley's Lock.
Well.
The sunny day with blue skies rapidly turned into a warm day with rain clouds. Rather than go north from Whites Ferry toward the rain, I decided to head back down the dirt road in the other direction, then work east to Poolesville and then south and farther east back to the truck.
Then at about Mile 26, realized it'd be faster (and maybe less wet) to simply head back to the towpath and back to Riley's.
Turned out to be the right call as all rain in the area was missed. Back at the truck it'd clearly rained enough to chase a bunch of people off. But the towpath north of the lock saw no rain.
Got the 30+ I was looking for but not much of the climbing. And for once the wind wasn't an issue.
Body felt ok, not great. Legs were fine and plenty strong the whole ride. Still fighting boredom along the green tunnel of the towpath, bleh.
