Finally mostly warm enough to start with a single layer, then finally fully warmed up by starting the 23-mile climb to the eastern continental divide.
The climb is gentle, if relentless but there wasn't a lot of wind, so it wasn't too bad. We stopped fairly regularly, which helped.
A couple of the longer tunnels were waaaaay darker than remembered, though wearing prescription sunglasses likely did not help.
Did the usual stop at the divide underpass and the state line and the various scenic overlooks.
A ruffed grouse came out of the underbrush just after the Big Savage Tunnel as if unafraid of humans. It clucked at us a bit then disappeared back into the undergrowth.
Lots of 1912 infrastructure to admire today -- the Keystone Viaduct, the Salisbury Viaduct as well as all those tunnels.
Wished there were a few more tunnels to visit/hide in during the last 5 miles as it started raining, hard. After casually riding along the previous 40 miles, the last bit into Rockwood involved some serious energy output. Partly to get it over with and mostly to put out enough effort to stay warm.
The hostel was ... ok. It got the job done; wouldn't want to do that every night.
