Rain finally let up after three solid days of it and desperate-to-get-outside OGs took advantage.
The plan was to stick mostly to gravel (Hoyles Mill Road) and paved trails. And mostly we did, but the trails in Black Hill park were in great shape (they usually are even after a lot of rain) and so we managed to get a little dirt action as well.
We also checked out the new Crownsgate Connector and verified it holds up well in the wet as well. Likely helps it's routed well out of the floodplain...
Hoyles Mill Road, even with all that gravel, was a wet mess. Not muddy, per se, as the surface was not soft, but there was water flowing down the road in multiple places. The bridge at the creek was a slippery disaster, with the riding companion taking a fall on the western end (4.1). It was difficult to even stand on the deck, it was so slippery.
Got a bit wet from that, from bushes hanging over and into the trails we did ride, and from puddles here and there. And a lot of leaf litter on the bike, but really not much in the way of mud. A spot here or there.
In the end, it didn't matter. Just happy to be on the bike again and outside.
