The weather is ideal. It was in the upper 60's when I departed. Winds from the North West. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the top of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation. I had matches to burn going over the top. The Arosa climb went quick, ticking over the landmarks. I was near max going over the top. I zipped around the backside and had fun on the descents. After reaching the Banducci summit, I pulled over to recover. I did good time/ I let traffic by and headed down the mountain. It was safe. No traffic from behind and going into a headwind. I was feathering the brakes only where needed. I made my way to SS. I did steady tempo going into the wind. I made my way around the backside and then downhill towards town. I put in a good sprint on the way. I stopped at the local park and took a quick bio break. I passed the tunnel in about 1:19 hours. So, I was on good time. I stopped at the local mini mart to mix a sport drink. I got back on the road and headed back on Banducci. As I was nearing the exit, my right upper quad started to cramp a bit. I couldn't put power down on that side. I let up for about 5 to 10 minutes. After a while it went away. By the time I reached Boss Hogs, the pain was mostly gone and I was able to put power down. I made it to Boss Hogs in about 1:40 Hours, give or take. I had a nice tailwind on the way back. The last climb went quick. There was a rider ahead of me, so I had carrot. It made me go faster. After reaching the summit, pulled over to feed. I fed Clif Bar with some water. After that, I got back on the road. At this point, I realized that I forgot to turn on the GoPro after leaving the mini mart in SS. So I lost about 25 - 30 minutes of footage. Route 202 had some traffic mitigation, but not too bad. Descending off OTR was nice. I pushed over Mariposa and then to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I had stuff to think about. The time went quick and my patience was in check. Balance and form felt good. Ailments, most notably the right quad cramping in SS. As mentioned, it went away nearly 100% as I was on the last climb. That and the usual hand and arm soreness. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal and half a banana for breakfast. I fed a Clif Bar with some water. I drank close to 2 bottles of sport drink and water. Other notes, I saw two cyclists today. One familiar.
