Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.

Well, today was cold! Colder than the previous ride. I wore 2 base layers, arms, knees, cap, face, long gloves. Turns out that I should have worn leg warmers. My legs were frozen by the time I reached the Keene basin. My legs felt above average at the start. I cruised it to the start of the descent. I stopped to adjust the gopro camera, which took a minute or two. The downhill was brutally cold! My lower legs were turning red from the sheer cold temperature. Fortunately, my head was warm and was in no danger of getting frozen. When I reached the base, my lower legs were sore from the cold. I knew that I was going to get warmer on the ascent, but I didn't get as warm as I had anticipated. I felt a bit nauseous in the first 2/3rds of the climb. It was real unusual because, I didn't feel in the head but I was still able to hold a good tempo. So, I was getting conflicting signals. My hypothesis is that the coldness from my lower legs took a long time for my body to equalize. As a result, the remainder of my body was having to make radical adjustments. I stopped on a few occasions to take some photos. I'm not sure if that helped my body recover. I'm thinking that it actually hurt it just a bit. i.e., getting warmed up, cooled down and warmed up again on more than one occasion. I'm convinced my body would have felt better had i not stopped, but I just couldn't resist the photographic moment. I ended up doing the ride in steady tempo and I kicked it up a notch over the loop monument. No kickers after that. Concentration was good considering that I was frozen for a good part of the ride. I was just focused on keeping my mind on the ride and listening to my body, trying not to let it get into the red. Ailments were, again soreness from the cold and nausea. Balance was good today. Gear worked perfect. No complaints. Other notes... Next time I'm wearing my leg warmers! I tried the squeegee tool today and it worked great. I'm not sure how the video footage turned out, though.
Other notations: I had stomach cramps before the ride. I had to delay the ride for an hour or so. Fortunately, this was enough time for my body to recover. The rear tire on my bike was flat when I was about to leave. I noticed a thorn inside the tire and also, the tread was starting to wear through to the inner casing. I put on a new Michelin tire. It's working well.
