Wow! Such a beautiful day to get out. It's in the upper 60's, winds from the North West. Perfect for going to SS. I wore arms and a thick base layer. The legs felt good to start. I made it to the top of OTR in good average time. As I was making my way there, there was a group of a dozen or more cyclists. I was wondering if I missed an organized ride. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation. I was on 6 o'clock alert. After making it to the top, I took a few moments to recover. Then I finished the climb. After making it to the summit, I pulled over to recover. I checked my smartphone for the Kern Wheelmen calendar. It didn't show any organized rides in Tehachapi. So, maybe it was a pick up group that I saw. I made it there in good average time. After that, I let traffic by and headed down the mountain. It was safe with minimal traffic from behind. The trek to SS was mostly moderate tempo going into the wind. I made my way around the backside and then the descent into town. I put in a good sprint, reaching over 40 MPH on the descent. I stopped at the park, but the bathroom was closed. I passed the tunnel in about 1:04 hours. I made my way to the local mini mart. I stopped to mix a powder drink and got back on the road. The return trip through the farm lands was mostly moderate tempo. I had to dodge all the holes and bumps on the road. I stopped at the electric station for a quick bio. They had a porta-potty. I passed boss hogs in about 1:28-ish hours. So I gave up about 4 minutes on the return. Then the last climb. It went quick. The legs felt good. I was doing no less than moderate tempo. After making it to the summit, I pulled over to feed a Clif Bar with water. From there, I headed to Route 202. Route 202 had some traffic mitigation. I had to sprint to the left turn lane and onto OTR. Descending off OTR was mostly fun and games. I pushed over Mariposa and the dig to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I had lots to think about. The morale felt good. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal, half a banana and some grapes before departing. I fed a Clif Bar and some water. I drank about 1 and 3/4ths of a sport drink bottles. Ailments were minimal. The sit bones were a bit sore on to the last 20 or 30 minutes of the ride, but did not detract too much. That and the usual hand soreness. Gear worked flawlessly. I saw about a dozen riders on OTR as I was making my way to the top.
