It was a rainy day today. I decided to ride the London map. I think NY was the map of the day. There were about 500 to 1000 riders on this map. I set out to do a negative split up the Box Hill climb. The legs felt good from the start. Sufficiently warmed up by the time I reached Box Hill for the first time. I was out of the saddle most of the way. I knew it would take around 9 minutes. So, I kept that in mind, to help settle into a tempo I could sustain. I think I made it to the summit in about 9:30 minutes (give or take). I headed back to town. Put in a dig through the tunnel kicker. I took the KOM on the Box Hill climb. I think I held it for a few minutes. After making the first lap, I kept going. Keeping in mind what was ahead. I finished the loop in over 30 minutes. I wasn't sure if I would negative split the lap. I was able to put in a bit more power, making my way to Box Hill. When I got there, I was already out of the saddle, crossing the start line. I was out of the saddle most of the time. Sitting down to hydrate and using the towel. I was doing between 3 and 5 W/kg. When I reached the summit, I posted a negative split, I think by about 30 to 40 seconds or so. That put me around 5th on the KOM. I headed back to town. Putting a second dig in the tunnel riser. From there it was the trek to the finish. I tried not to let up that much. I posted a negative split on the lap and a 30 day PR.
