As predicted, it's raining outside. I chose the London Hilly map. I set out to do two laps. After fiddling with the gear, I hopped on and commenced the ride. It took about 15 minutes to reach the base of Box Hill. I was sufficiently warmed up by that time. There were only 100 riders on this map. As, it was not the map of the day. I definitely like the duration of this climb. It's long enough to get in a good hill workout, and do it twice. The first lap felt pretty good. I made my way up the climb. I was mostly out of the saddle. In the saddle to drink and wipe sweat. I was trying to keep the wattage above 3W/kg. I reached the summit in under 10 minutes. I headed back to town. Put in a good dig over the tunnel riser. Soon after, I completed the first lap in about 30 minutes and change. With no hesitation, I commenced the second lap. Warmed up and good to go, I made my way to Box Hill. It takes patience, I was telling myself. I wanted to post a negative split, so I kept that in mind. I reached the base of the climb after riding through town. I was out of the saddle most of the time. Putting in no less than 3 W/kg, except for sitting to drink and wipe sweat. I was trying not to pay attention to the metrics, and just go by feel. I was implementing different pedaling techniques. Favoring one leg with push and pull, alternating, then together. I found I was able to keep my legs fresher that way, with the expense of a higher heart rate. It worked great for this punchy climb. I reached the summit and posted a negative split and PR for the past month. I grabbed the KOM jersey on the first lap. But lost it, and didn't get it back. I headed to town and made a dig up the tunnel riser. I was pushing and pulling so much that the riser block on my front wheel slipped off. I ended up posting a negative split on the last lap. I was off by about 0.5 seconds for a PR. Other notes, there were a maximum of 100 riders today.
